Regulation and licences
Bottled water regulations
Bottled water regulations vary around the world. There are different definitions of natural mineral water and spring water in the UK and US, for example. Zenith published a plain language guide to the UK bottled water regulations for many years and this has now been replaced by a series of free webinars. Zenith also has advised many clients on the different local regulations on bottled water and has managed the application process for accreditation of bottled waters around the world. This means you can operate in the knowledge that you are complying with the law.
Water abstraction
In many countries, a licence or permit is required for water extraction from both ground and surface water. Zenith’s team of water experts can manage the process of obtaining an abstraction licence as this can be complex. In-depth studies, with monitoring and testing, are required that often include detailed environmental assessment.
In the UK, as water resources are put under pressure, there are sometimes opportunities for licence trading with adjacent water users who may not be using their full licence. Zenith can manage the negotiations and liaise with the regulator to ensure this process is as smooth as possible.
