Innobev Global Soft Drinks Congress

9 - 11 March 2009, Cologne

With the theme Managing cost, delivering value, this year's Congress will retain a focus on consumers and marketing, while adding emphasis on innovation in reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Now in its fifth year, the Congress is designed for industry leaders, suppliers, customers and analysts to gain a complete overview of the latest trends and developments across all continents from top companies in each region, with extensive time for informal contact and discussion.

The 2009 Congress will be held alongside Anuga FoodTec, the world's leading trade fair for the food and drink technology sector.

Originally established in Leverkusen in 1931, the Coca-Cola Rhein Rhur GmbH bottling plant was relocated to Cologne in 1972 and is now one of Coca-Cola Erfischungsgetränke AG's main production sites.  The plant saw the introduction of Germany's first 1.5 litre and 2 litre PET bottling lines, it now has one line for 1 litre and 1.5 litre PET bottles and one line for 0.5 litre bottles.  Bag-in-box production, formerly based in Essen, is now also at the site. 

Tour includes two high speed PET lines, one "container" line and bag-in-box production.

Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg

Gala industry dinner

Schloss Bensberg, known as the 'Rheinish Versailles', was originally built by Prince-Elector Johann Willhelm II of Düsseldorf but following his death in 1716, his wife returned to Italy and the castle remained unfinished for many years, and was used as a military hospital.  It was fully renovated to its original Baroque style and opened as a luxury hotel in 2000.

Conference venue

The Congress will be held in the Congress Centrum Nord at Koelnmesse, Cologne's state of the art exhibition centre. Koelnmesse is the world's fourth largest exhibition centre with around 284,000 square meters of ultra modern inside space and an additional 100,000 square metres outdoors. Situated close to the Cathedral and Cologne's Old Town, Koelnmesse can be easily reached by public transport or by foot.

Accommodation and social events

The main hotel for the event, where the welcome drinks reception and gala dinner will be held, is the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, a Baroque castle and now a five star hotel located 20 minutes outside the city of Cologne. The 84 rooms and 36 suites are furnished in five different architectural styles and the castle houses frescoes, paintings and sculptures as well as an impressive library. The hotel is renowned for its cuisine and has a three star Michelin chef, Joachim Wissler

Transfers to and from the conference venue will be provided from Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg.

For those delegates who prefer to stay in the city, the five star Sofitel Cologne Mondial Am Dom is located in the heart of Cologne's Old Town, and is close to the famous cathedral, the Rhine and the exhibition centre.

There are allocations for delegates attending the InnoBev Global Soft Drinks Congress at both hotels.

About Anuga FoodTec

Anuga FoodTec, held from 10 to 13 March at Koelnmesse, is the world's only specialist trade fair whose multi-sector approach covers all aspects of processing, packaging, hygiene, storage and distribution in food and beverage production. It takes place every three years and is jointly organised by Koelnmesse GmbH and the German Agricultural Society (DLG).   In 2006 the show had 1,172 exhibitors and was attended by 39,000 visitors from 151 countries.
