Feasibility studies
The main areas of risk that require evaluation prior to the development of an open loop geothermal system are:
- Borehole yield
- Interference effects/sustainability (System Design)
- Regulatory risk (consents and licensing) i.e. Impact Assessment
The first stage of the process is to determine whether sufficient yield could be obtained from a borehole/boreholes to service the proposed thermal load. Proposed thermal load under the prevailing geological and hydrogeological conditions in the aquifer system undernearth the site. A yield feasibility study is undertaken for this purpose.
Zenith has developed an extensive GIS database of key information including borehole records, licensed abstractions, geothermal schemes, aquifer properties and water level data to bring together the vital supporting information.
